Our School DNA
Dear all
Our school motto, Learn to Love and Love to Learn, illustrates what constitutes the School DNA based on strong Catholic values that enrich the persons attending our school.
One of the main features that make up this school motto is the basis of a school community, committed to nurture a respect of diversity and nurture a sense of family. All this is only possible with the collaboration and participation of every individual that make up the school community. Co-working together in various school initiatives helps to strengthen our interests and motivation to do more. Our school is characterized by a substantial number of groups that operate in different areas varying from EKoskola, fundraising, Pastoral Care, and many others. The collaborative input was evident during the span of time dedicated to the smooth transition among the Administration where the school continued to excel on her mission.
As a strong family, the school community continues to build on strong family ties by organising activities that promote team spirit during the academic year, especially during Christmas, St Valentines, Easter and the End of Year Activity. Throughout all these activities, I keep in mind the value of the human person, whether keeping contacts with staff, student or parent, as a person who must foster a degree of optimism among the community around me. It is my fundamental aim to focus on the human value of any person as this promotes a positive feeling within the School Community.
Strong families promote open communication channels within the organization where they live, work and co-habit. It is a known fact that students’ participation in various educational fora such as the Student Council, the Ekoskola Group, the Prefects and Sub Prefects, the School Choir, Student Clubs and Educational Group Projects open communication channels to every school stakeholder. This results in a sense of inclusion, promoted by our Christian faith, regardless of differences due to race, religion, ability, and gender. Our school is engaged to give a sense of care and attention to every student who has her own specific needs. This caring approach is evident during all the time that the students spend at school envisaged as a small community. As indicated by Jesus in his teachings, special attention is given to everyone so that no one is left behind and support is provided to Learn how to Love and Love how to Learn. This approach implies that our teaching methodologies varies according to the students present in class. Mainstream teaching processes can be accompanied by other techniques which emphasise on visual and practical learning styles requested by students to reach their full learning potential.
The Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary School (BCSS) is committed to continue promoting a deep sense of appreciation for each other, regardless of his/her position at school. Our school believes that students should be provided not only with academic formation but more so with Christian values namely Love, Respect, Tolerance, Forgiveness, Trust and Empathy accompanied with the ability to reflect critically, formulate questions, expression of opinions, and engage in discussions when needed. These values are interwoven in our school timetable which is characterized by subjects such as 4Cs and Philosophy besides basic and core subjects, that helps our students to reflect on abilities. This fosters independence in our students and helps them work out their emotions, impacts their behaviour and manage their feelings in a positive way. All this process leads to stronger relationships within the school community creating a sense of family and transcending outside the school environment.
As stated by Pope Francis; “It is worthwhile to live as a family, that a society grows strong, grows in goodness, grows in beauty and truly grows if it is built on the foundation of the family.” It is our goal for the school environment to provide a caring and educational setting where every stakeholder feels comfortable, accepted and loved. A place where the potential of each person can be aspired and reached, guided by Christian values and morals which are fundamental in our lives.

Our School Policies
Our school aims to provide a stimulating and pleasant learning environment which is not only conducive to the main goal of learning but also to strengthening desirable behaviour that will help these young persons mature into self-disciplined and self-reliant individuals, capable of behaving appropriately in any situation.
The aim of this School Policies Handbook is to create a balance between the rights and responsibilities of the individual and the group. Moreover, it informs students, staff and parents/guardians of the expectations for behaviour at school.
We envisage our school as a place:
